General Meeting Minutes

June 10, 2019

Present:  Dan Failacci, Trish Abell, Rosa Mead-Metzler, Kathy Higinbotham, Kate & Erik Dudash, Mike & Rhonda Hillman, Kim Stevens, Krista Allen-Bossaller, Lori Morris, Teresa Vaughn, Theresa & Greg Anderson, Jaclyn Smith, Shari Nakamoto, Traci Poppert

Call to Order
Meeting began at 7:30 pm and was presided over by Mike Hillman, with Dan Failacci as secretary.

Approval of Previous Minutes:
May Booster Meeting minutes approved (Lori/Trish).  

President’s Report:  Executive Board met for June.  
  • Budget reviewed as always
  • Discussion of AFA booster idea with board.  No decisions made yet.
  • Marching budget for 2019-20 approved
  • Summer Guard program approved.  Will allow 6th-8th grade student to participate/learn about guard over the summer for small fee.  Possible performances in parades or special requests by the band.  More of a training camp for incoming/area students.  If it goes well, could extend to percussion/winds.
  • Upcoming events reviewed:
    • 7/22 start of band camp
    • KIDA show 3/14/2020 – BOOKED.  Erik to handle use form/Rose Hill reservation
  • Thank You:
    • Thanks again to Joe and Dawn Humbertson for their dead-ication and the countless hours spent with all things TJ band over the past, I don’t know how many years.  We will miss you!  And to Joe for hauling trash out of the trailer for his last final act.  
Vice President’s Report: (Erik out)  
  • Still 1 spot open (last Thursday of band camp) for pop-sicles
  • Thank you to the Andersons for coordinating band camp dinners.  
  • Need volunteer help during camp to help with meals
  • Band Picnic – Sept 7, 2019 @ Monocacy Village pavilion.  Jill P/Missy C. coordinating (though they won’t be there?)
  • Still in need of scholarship chairperson
  • Krista Allen-Bossaller has volunteered to head senior night again
  • Still in need of Corporate donations/Grant writing chair – see Erik
Secretary:
  • Brought in forms to record volunteer hours.  Will bring more for the next booster meeting,
Treasurer (Dana on vacation):  
  • See attached budget
  • As always, ask Dana for specific details/questions.
Directors Report:
  • No report (Nick in practice)
Student Accounts:
  • 4 students still owe (2 of the 4 have made arrangements)
  • Fees coming in for 2019 concert band, but have not received a roster yet.
Committee Reports

Fundraising:
  • Google calendar will be populated with fundraising dates.
  • Chipotle tomorrow 4-8 near Wegmans
  • Car washes:  6/22, 7/13, 7/27, 8/3, 8/10 @ Wolfe Furniture Rt 40
  • March-A-Thon ready before the end of June
  • Band Aid – 2nd week of band camp.  Free ice cream (or non-dairy frozen treat) to all those students that return their bottles with change
  • Meeting right after booster meeting – come join the team.
  • SCRIP:  Lowe’s pop-up fundraiser.  Due Thursday evening
    • To date $4800 earned in rebates ($545 to general fund)
    • Picnic incentive?  Sign up and place an order and be eligible for a drawing
Uniform Report:
  • Accessory form will be ready 6/13 – and due back 7/1
  • Uniforms will be dry cleaned this week
Pit Crew report:
Doug Johnson sent out email for joining Pit Crew and for prop building help.  If you are not chaperoning or have other responsibilities for show days – you should consider joining us in the Pit Crew.  Many hands make light work!!!  We also have themed tailgates at most shows and eat REALLY WELL (no one goes hungry) so we hope to see you there!

Chaperones:  
Expect email to be coming out requesting chaperone help once show schedule is fully set.

Misc:  
The email dated May 16 – “ Marching Band 2019” has the schedule of events and the handbook with all kinds of information for the year.
