Meeting Minutes

February 10, 2020

Present:  Dan Failacci, Kim Stevens, Greg & Theresa Anderson, Kate & Erik Dudash, Mike & Rhonda Hillman, Laura Busch, Dana Cunningham, Nick Gasemy, J C Toney, Kathy Renn, Kathy Higinbotham
       
Call to Order
Meeting began at 7:30pm and was presided over by Mike Hillman, with Dan Failacci as secretary.

Approval of Previous Minutes:
December Booster Meeting minutes approved (Jacklyn/Kim).
Note:  There was no January booster meeting due to Disney trip.

President’s Report:  Executive Board met for January/February.  
  • Budget reviewed as always
  • Upcoming events reviewed:
    • 5/9 – Jazz Nite
    • 5/15 - Banquet
  • Thank You:
    • Eric and Kate Dudash – for cookie sale and concessions
    • Nick, Dana, Kathy, Traci, Trish, Mike and all those that helped make for a successful Disney trip.  
    • Doug Johnson for indoor props and transportation
    • Jacklyn/Kathy for Bingo
  • KIDA – Director’s packet sent out to “key” people for review.  Please review and provide comments.  We should stage things as much as possible on Friday night as there are SAT tests Saturday morning
Vice President’s Report:  
  • 5/15 banquet in cafeteria.  Meeting next week to finalize caterers (received 3 price quotes)
  • Used band uniforms need laundered (could use some help)
  • Bibs are ready
Secretary:
  • Keep collecting your hours.  I will be asking for them in the next month or so after KIDA
Treasurer:      
  • ~ $11.8k incoming/$12.4k outgoing for the month
  • Bank refunded all the money from the scam in December
  • 1099 sent out, and previous taxes have been submitted (we had an extension)
  • Additional expense before Disney – brakes, bearings and sealing of leaks in the trailer.  Approx. $1.4k for repairs.  Dana saved $2500 in labor charges by repairing the leaks with her father. Thank you Dana!!!
  • Received ~$5k in invoices from Disney (should be the last 2 from the trip)
  • As always, ask Dana for specific details/questions.
Directors Report: 
  • Cookie sale went ok
  • Indoor percussion looking to move from “Open” class to “A” class – due to illnesses and staffing issues we have not been able to field full squad.
  • Concert band – Have 1 difficult piece looking at for this year.  Should challenge kids
  • Mr. Kurtz has already met with students interested in Jazz or symphonic band
    *If there are concerns from this weekend’s picture incident – please reach out to Nick
Student Accounts:
  • As of the beginning of the month, there were a lot of outstanding payments.  
  • Since Nick’s email, a lot of payments have come in.  They will get posted this week to your students account.
Committee Reports

Fundraising:
  • Thanks to cookie sale we made $1200
  • 3/3 restaurant night – Valencia (?).  Email will be coming out with details. We will get 10% of all business sales for the day.  They have Panini/soup and specialize in cupcakes/milkshakes
  • We will be selling Hershey Park tickets.  There are other schools also selling these types of tickets.  Please support the band by purchasing your tickets through us.  Traci Poppert to send out email
  • Paint night – 4/6 @ For the Love of Sweets
  • SCRIP – Lifetime over $9700 into student accounts/$1732 into general fund
    • 2 families have made a lot of money for their students account by purchasing vacations using SCRIP
    • Denise Failacci to take over for next year
  • Bingo night – Trying to fund $1250 in prize money ($750 already collected) – both individual and corporate sponsorship.  There will be 50/50, silent auction, bake sale and King Tut.  Will be at Lewistown Fire Hall (they are supplying the food).  Tickets are $25 advanced purchase/$30 at the door.  There will be 20 games plus 3 specials.  Doors open at noon.  Games start @1:30pm
