General Meeting Minutes

October 14, 2020

Virtually Present:  Carlos Slone, Dan & Denise Failacci, Kate & Erik Dudash, Nick Gasemy, Jacklyn Smith, Kathy Higinbotham, Laura Busch, Beth White, Traci Poppert, Teresa Vaughn

Call to Order
Meeting teleconference began at 7:35pm and was presided over by Carlos Slone, with Dan Failacci as secretary.

Approval of Previous Minutes:
September Booster Meeting minutes approved. (Jacklyn/Teresa)

President’s Report:  Executive Board met for October.  
  • Reached out to Mike Hillman for scholarship committee.  More information to be coming out soon
Vice President’s Report:  
  • Please support Nick with the gathering of shirt sizes to help get the remaining stragglers.  We need everyone’s sizes to place the order.
Secretary:
  • No report
Treasurer:  
  • Budget for September
    • Expenses - $80 for web site renewal/paypal
    • Income - ~$716, car wash
  • Income from band fees appears lower this month as they were deposited on the last day of September, but will not post until 10/1
  • As always, ask Jacklyn for specific details/questions.
Directors Report:
  • Need absence forms for all kids that are not attending the in person sessions.  We need to keep accurate records of who is here and who is not.  Safety and Security are our #1 concerns
  • No rehearsal 10/21, 10/22 due to a personal conflict
  • Spoke with Kathy/Jacklyn at Saturday practice – there are some replacement parts that will help improve things for students.  More info to follow
  • Students are spread out in pods and do visual basics altogether.  They have all been given the fight song, and drum line has the cadences
  • Color Guard – will be doing a project in class.  A song has been picked and the students must write the routine in parts and figure out how to weave them together.
  • Rehearsals are going well.  Section leaders are keeping in touch with their sections to see how the students are doing.  Trying to figure out what’s working and what’s not.  Please reach out if your student is struggling or bored with something or if there are things they do like.
  • Can’t stress this enough – IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL, PLEASE STAY HOME.  This will help everyone.

  • Reached out to families with outstanding balances via email.  Some money should be trickling in
Committee Reports

Fundraising:
  • Raised over $1k at the yard sale – selling other people stuff !!!
  • Busy week ahead:
    • Boscov’s – 20% off your purchase and band get 5%
    • Chipotle – up to 20% of the sales during the event.  Find Out First going out
  • Next Week – Kitchenette – kitchen gadget store on Market Street.  Percentage of sales going to band.  Email coming out with details.
  • Individual fundraisers –
    • Greenery – Poinsettias & wreaths
      • Laura to check on delivery fee if we do not need minimum
      • Working on no contact drop-off for orders at band check-in
    • SCRIP – If new to the program, talk to Denise Failacci for more information
  • AR Workshop – make your own yard signs/décor for your house – BYOB.  More details to come out for this
  • Looking at doing a spirit wear sale, but we cannot sell items the athletic boosters are already selling.
  • Mid-November Spin the Bottle wine sales for the weekend – more info to be coming in email.
  • Don’t forget Amazon Smiles/SCRIP for Prime day (contact Carlos for more details on smiles).  Easy way to double dip for the band/student account

Early voting will be at TJ starting on 10/26.  Nick to check on, but it should be at the other end of the school by the gym, and should not cause us any issues. The voter drop box is already in place by the gym.
