General Meeting Minutes

October 8, 2016

Call to Order
It began at 7:30 and was presided over by Mike Hillman, with Dan Failacci as secretary.

Approval of Previous Minutes:
September Booster Meeting minutes approved (Nancy/Trish).

President’s Report: Executive Board met for October.
  • Budget reviewed as always
  • NYC Trip – can use student account to fund trip, but must be paid up on band fees or you cannot go on the trip.
  • New instruments are in – Special thanks again to Triangle Contracting, LLC and The Lewis family for their generous donations.
  • Upcoming events were reviewed:
    • Great Pumpkin Patch – Mt. Airy 10/13-14. Sign-up genius coming out
    • Marching Band Festival – Middletown, 10/15. During the day so any extra help would be appreciated
    • Move up Night – 10/26
Vice President’s Report:
  • Friday is senior recognition night. Sign up genius is out. Need help with decorations/food donations. Also need an announcer for senior bios.
  • Don’t forget to keep track of your volunteer hours. They add up fast
  • For September: ~$10.3k incoming, ~$4.7k outgoing (spirit wear, paying Techs). No other major purchases. Invoice in – they will be paid within a week.
  • See Dana for specific details/questions.
Directors Report :
  • Thanks to everyone who showed up tonight (mattress fundraiser kickoff)
  • NYC trip – Symphonic Orchestra trip (coordination by Mr. Kurtz)
  • Last 2 weeks TJ has been the top 3A open band in the country (US Bands)!!
    • Amazing work by everyone. Congratulations TJ band!
  • Schedule is out for next 2 weeks: As always – see the google calendar for latest schedule.
Student Accounts:
  • 55 students paid in full or nave positive balance in school account
  • 16 students with outstanding balances (5 owe full amount)
Committee Reports

  • Mattress Fundraiser – Thanks to the sponsors for coming out to explain about the program. Flyers and coupons were handed out. Check with Kate if you were not there or you need more. Event is 10/28 Sunday. Thanks to those that showed up for tonight’s meeting – we earned around $200 just for your attendance tonight. Don’t forget to spread the word on social media!
  • Mixed bag - $800 to individual accounts
  • Greenery (wreaths) email is already out for orders. Individual fundraiser
  • SCRIPS – see Rhonda Hillman for details.
  • 11/11 Spin the Bottle Wine tasting
  • 12/1 Paint night (Dublin Roasters?)
  • 12/4 Restaurant Night – Chick Fil-A
  • Fundraising committee meeting next Tuesday 10/16 for Breakfast with Santa
  • Anyone who has contacts for a downtown restaurant to do restaurant night, contact Traci Poppert.
Uniform Report:
Need to call Grimes to find out about senior shirt order. They are not in yet.

Pit Crew report:
Early load on 10/15 (FCPS county showcase in Middletown) – 3-3:30pm.
5am load time for Delaware (10/20). Will be a very long day if the band makes the finals.
Construction of Indoor Props has begun.
